Alfred 'Mike' Imig, 84, of Lena, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Sun Valley Homes, Oconto. Mike was born December 5, 1928 in Oconto Falls to the late Herman and Cecelia (Pociopa) Imig. He married Shirley Bitters on June 6, 1953. After serving in the Air Force, Mike and Shirley lived in Montana for 12 years where he operated two taverns and owned a trucking business. He then moved back to Wisconsin to take up farming. He quit farming in 1976 and began whitewashing, which he did for 30 years. Mike loved to travel, and he and Shirley traveled extensively and spent their winters in Arizona for 25 years. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards with many friends. Mike also enjoyed telling a good joke, and could always get a laugh. Mike was a member of First American Lutheran Church, Oconto, and Lena American Legion Post #342. Mike is survived by his wife, Shirley Imig; two daughters, Cindy (Terry Moynihan) Belongia, Oconto; Connie (Mike) Frost, Oconto; three sons, Bob (Lynn) Imig, FL; Bill (Margaret) Imig, Green Bay; Bruce (Trisha) Imig, TX; a sister, Jane Koloske, TX; a brother, Norman (Florence) Imig, KY; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 4 to 8 PM Friday, October 18, 2013. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 19 from 2 to 3 PM at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Saturday at the church with the Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery with Military Rites by Lena American Legion Post #342. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Heartland Hospice.
